I am for sappers, but I feel the same way. There should be ways to prevent trolling, spamming and stupid stick towers. Prevent people from stacking structures atop each other, or add physics to the game.

Otherwise sappers are totally worth it. They can be used as carpenters aboard ships, repair damage in sieges, fortify artillery positions and even fortify villages, hills or river crossings for infantry to defend.

They just need to change NW system on building and that's all. Remove those planks etc. and make them not build by smashing them with a hammer but you just pick what you want to build. The green/transparent model appears just like in city builders and just place them where you want. This will prevent stacking unfinished planks.

Hear, hear. My point was, you don't need to change a lot to prevent sappers from trolling. Even a few core building mechanics would do the job as long as they aren't as bad as NW.

I like that idea.
