It seems a little surreal to me that everyone can use the cannon, there should be a specialized class, the gunners who must carry the tools to use the cannon. Everyone may know how to shoot a cannon, but reload it correctly and put the angle to hit the target only the gunners could, don't think so?

I know man, but I would like to know if they are thinking in adding a specialized artillery class.

Bear in mind the original conception for Holdfast was to make an age-of-sail game, in which the majority of players need access to the vessel's guns, and land battles were added later.

Artillery could for sure get more attention. Maybe making available ammunition to cannons limited by the map makers to a set number (or unlimited should it be a more fun type of server). Would make further difference between horse artillery and more stationary guns with more ammo supply available.

Reloading as is currently is too barebone. Either an artillery class with a ramrod should spawn or a ramrod should spawn on the cannon (an potencionaly be tracked to make only a set number of ramrods spawn per gun).

In the French Army, there was the "train" or soldats du train; it was basically the soldiers who transported the ammo.

Not only there was artillery train but there was even guard train.
