Hey, Olafson's reply perfectly sums up our reason as to why we've chosen the 93rd Sutherland Highlanders for the light infantry class.

That is the whole point of it, yes. We tried to make the units as visually distinct from each other as possible. Sometimes that is a bit difficult, especially for the UK a lot of the units are dressed in red, but I think we managed to get some interesting units together that will be easy to distinguish even by new players.

Was it to avoid using the 95th and having to balance rifles with smoothbores? When I think of visually distinct light infantry, the greenjackets are the first that come to mind. Conversely, the Highland regiments are typically treated like heavy infantry, so it might confuse new players familiar with the time period but not the specific mechanics of Holdfast to see their light coys. playing the part of light infantry.

If youre going to have the 93rd Sutherland Highlanders as the light infantry, will there be no kilts?  :-[

There should be other unit kinds with unique things like;

UK:

Highlanders (More damage in melee)
Militas (Quick movement)
KGL (More HP)
Coldstream Guards (More speed in melee / better accuracy)

etc.

FR:

National Guards (same as Militas)
Swiss Regiment (same as highlanders)
Polish Foots (same as KGL)
Old Guards (same as coldstream)

etc.

The Militia would have to be soldiers from Portugal now, not the UK.

I finished Rifles by Mark Urban the other night and it covers the 95th as well as the rest of the light division which included the 43rd and the 52nd. Since you already have two or the three there now ;)...

For most regiments, that is true, but the 23rd Welsh actually had them for all the companies. :)

Damn good point, I didn't notice the regiment, just the "line infantry" part.

Bluehawk, I really wish the game was built around your thinking.

My opinion, I find the whole unit distinction completely unnecessary, considering after 3 hours you could tell then apart anyway with regimental querks and things. No need for such huge uniform distinctions. Unrealistic and unnecessary.

What was in Bluehawks quote Jackson?

Good Lord. I have to deal with a question like that.
