Title: Post PC Specs And Performance Issues Here!
Post by: sillywilly1414 on September 22, 2017, 01:12:24 am
Hey everyone!

For those of you that are running into performance issues and may have older PCs, please post your specs here for the devs to see! It will be easier if it is all congregated into one spot rather than multiple threads being made.

Please describe in as much detail as possible what your specs are as well as any performance issues you have encountered while playing. For example you can post your CPU, GPU, amount of RAM, and Operating System.

Thanks!

From another thread :(

Low fps regardless of video settings

25 - 35 fps average on very low to extreme on army gamemode types (basically any servers with high player counts).

Specs:
Intel Pentium G4560 @ 3.5Ghz (2 cores, 4 threads)
8gb DDR4 Ram 2400mhz
RX 470 4GB
Samsung SSD
Windows 10 64 bit

RX 470 4 Gb, i5 6400 3.3 Ghz, 8 Gb RAM - 30-40 FPS in huge line battles and naval battles. Changing settings changes absolutely nothing. Even without CPU bottleneck (CPU usage - 70-80%). GPU usage only 50% (no FPS lock or V-Sync). I guess i need much more powerful machine to play this game on 60 fps even on low settings.

20-30 fps on very low settings, I expected at least 40 fps just for the reason I was told the game was hella optimized. Changing settings from High to Very Low made almost no difference. My friend who has a bit better GPU than me (everything else same) runs the game at 200 fps on Very high.

Specs:
Microsoft Windows 10 Home
System type   x64-based PC
Procesor   Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-4210U CPU @ 1.70GHz, 2401 MHz, number of cores: 2, number of threads: 4
Nvidia Geforce 840M
RAM 8,00 GB

Thanks. I just don't understand this. What about computer from minimum system requirements? 1-10 FPS on lowest?

It worries me that its stated that a Intel HD 4000 can handle this on playable fps....

Stable 50-60 FPS in 4k on Extreme settings with LOD slider ramped to 5 instead of default 3. Might drop to 45 in certain cases, but never below that.

Well with a large player count you are looking at about the same FPS in HD.
Without large player counts you are to be expected to be over 100 I guess.

I've tried to run this game on truly potato pc.

Windows 10 64bit
i3-540
8gigs of ram
gt 240 1 gig variant

20fps on on very low. This pretty much what I expected. But, there is no land texture and everything on naval maps looks like black mess.

Which program are you using to get that overlay? I've been trying to get MSI Afterburner/RivaTuner to work with Holdfast, but no luck.

- edit - Just to chip in regarding the subject of this thread: my fps on big servers when a lot of players are close together dives towards the 40s, on high to very high settings. I've tried reducing the settings to the Low preset, but it didn't change much. Even setting the number of ragdolls and the despawn times to their respective minimum did not improve performance. Not really a potato PC, but specs are in my signature.

- edit2 - got RivaTuner to work. Took this screenshot from a 62v62 battle:

What strikes me, is the large amount of VRAM being used. I've seen it go up to almost 3300 MB, which I think is very high considering I'm playing at 1080p.

It's in engine thing. F3 or F4 to turn it on.

So I have many, many crashing problems, as well as terrible FPS (around 10-15 FPS on lowest settings without vsync and without FPS lock). Here's my computer specs:
Windows 10
Intel Core i5-4460 CPU @ 3.2 GHz
8.00 Gb RAM
64-bit operating system, x64 based processor

My crashing problems occur at several points. The first one being whenever I load up the game, the "Oops" crash report is there. If I don't pay any attention to it, it doesn't do anything. But if I try to click on it to make it go away, it crashes the game.
The second crash occurs when I load up any server with Desert Ruins. That map always crashes the whole game for me.
The third crash occurs when I spawn on Tahir Desert. I cannot spawn in or spectate without crashing the game.
A fourth crash happens after I spawn in on Spanish Farm and Arendan River.
A fifth crash might happen after the round is over (whether it changes maps or not, it sometimes crashes).
On top of all of this, I cannot play fullscreen or 1920x1080 resolution because I get 10 FPS. I have to play at 1280x720 resolution, and even then, I still get less than 50 FPS.

Is there anything I can do to stop these crashes or help my FPS?

Quick note: You NEED a graphics card for this game. Integrated graphics cards will most likely not work.

You are trying to the run the game on a GPU that does not have DX11 support, therefore all the geometry that uses shaders that require DX11 (I.e. almost all) can not be rendered.

Great, guess there goes Holdfast for many people then :D

Integrated graphics cards like the Intel Graphics 4600 are unfortunately not made for gaming. They are made to use your PC for browsing, watching HD videos and working in MS office. No modern game will run on them, most old games won't even get a good FPS.

Olafson is correct, a lot of modern games will not run or run well at all if you don't have a dedicated GPU. It's not just a Holdfast thing.

Yes, this is what I noticed as well. I'm getting pretty awful performance with my setup (see signature) at times. Thing is: performance is fine the first 5-10 minutes of a round on a 126-player server (locked 60), but after that my fps keeps dropping to 40-45 when looking towards the battlefield (read: where the most players are). When that happens, I can change all the settings I want, but nothing seems to help: grass settings, ragdoll settings, shadows, LOD settings > none of them make a difference once performance has been impacted. One time I even dropped the resolution down to 720p to see what would happen, and performance was exactly the same. And I've tried using the lowest preset, just like you did, a couple of times, but performance did not improve one bit.

It's also not map-specific, because this happens on all maps (again, on a 126-player server). Also: CPU and GPU utilization is never maxed out; CPU doesn't exceed 70% and GPU (I don't have the exact numbers on that) never hits 100%, so it doesn't seem to be a CPU/GPU bottleneck of some sorts.

I'm not sure how I could be of help to the devs, though. Is there some kind log they can have a look at?
Title: Re: Post PC Specs And Performance Issues Here!

Intel core i7-4270HQ CPU @2,6GHz
12Gb RAM
Windows 10 64bit
Nvidia GeForce GTX 950M 4gb

I'm getting 6-15 fps on most maps/servers, changing video settings does nothing, I don't understand, is it because I'm on a laptop? Because I don't feel like I have a bad gaming PC. Memory usage is really high, reaching 2000+MB with the total being around 56% total memory usage.

EDIT: Server lag is definely a part of it, although not the hole problem, since the maximum I got was about 25 fps on best ping servers

"Good" to see it's not an isolated problem on my part, so hopefully the devs can track down the issue.

A couple things i did to reduce heat on my old i5 650 @ 3.2mhz cpu.

My cpu was frying. First few times i played saw the temp peak at 96C.  99% usage!  ..., not good.

-First, turned off 'Turbo Boost' in Bios. --This lowered wattage from 83w to 73w.
-Second, thru CP//system//advanced system setting//performance//setting//advanced tab for,
" Adjust for best performance of:" Background Services. (changed from 'Programs')

Between the two tweaks got temps down into mid-60sC. at 88% usage.
Mid-60s is still rather high. Plan to re-paste the heatsink, it is quite old.

Can live with that. Frames are steady at 30fps limit.

I'm running what I wouldn't consider a 'low end' or 'old' setup, but with a high player count and looking towards large concentrations of players I get a constant sub 20 fps. On low player servers I'm getting above 60. Like many have stated before, changing the graphics settings seems to have little effect.

Windows 10
AMD FX 6300
R9 270X
16GB RAM

I've also made sure my graphics drivers are fully updated.

Windows 10, 64 bit
AMD A8-4500M APU Radeon 1.90GHz  (which makes me mad as the specs tell me I should be getting up to 2.80)
AMD Radeon HD 7640G (512MB)
4GB RAM (3.45 usable; of course)
500GB HDD

Know it's low but I figured it's good for the devs to see what some of their players are working with.

Yea, I know it's a toaster at this point. Lots of low performance (it's all on "Very Low" settings) in terms of fps though I can't tell how much is my comp and what's the server lag as I've gone into an empty server and the ping more than doubles when I actually get in (from 67 on server browser to 114-215 it jumps all around and I'm the only one there). Staying on the fringes of the battles since there's typically only a near full 150 player server helps a lot. Getting into a server even empty can take 3-5m.

Edit: Medium settings with 20 or less people in a match worked relatively okay (lots of people popping in or not showing until very close)

I installed my brand new Vega 64 VGA 2 days ago, and surprised the peformance on this game! ???
Although playable, frame rate sometimes drops under 50(with video setting:Extreme) :o
I checked GPU's behavior with GPU-Z, and noticed that maximum GPU load is only 70%
So this game is poorly optimized as well as the GPU driver, I'm sure about this.
I hope devs pay more attention to optimization.
Besides, is there any solution for poor performance without sacrificing video quality for now?

Since the last update my video performance has plummeted.
Changing video options hardly makes any difference, on any setting. The game only recognises 1.2 out of 6 G GPU mem.
So I wonder if 10xx cards are already properly supported (not a bash, just wondering, I can still play)

Win 7 Pro 64b
i7 960 @ 3.2 , not oc
Kingston 12 GB Ram
Asus Geforce GTX 1060 6 GB (edit: factory oc)

Edit, I have now seen its usage fluctuate between 1222 and 1888 MB out of 8 GB.
Edit 2, not sure if you guys are doing stuff in the background but the stuttering seems less the past few days (today is Nov 22)

Current FPS:
Low Population100-120 FPS
Medium Population60-80 FPS
High Population40-55 FPS

Current settings: https://imgur.com/a/Gvgeu

Current setup:
MotherboardM5A78L-M LX V2
ProcessorAMD FX-8350 (8Core)
GPUNvidia GTX 1070 8GB RAM
RAM16GB
OSWindows 10 Professional 64 bit

It is definitely playable, but especially on crowded servers it get's nervwrecking when I'm in a melee fight and my fps drop down to the point I can't control my mouse correctly.

AMD Apu A8 7600 3.1 ghz (4 cores, 4 threads)
8gb ram 1866 + 1600 DDR3 (6.95 available)
1 TB WD HDD
RX 560 2GB OC
Windows 10 Pro 64 bit

1024x768 resolution (old crt monitor, max forced resolution is 1280x1024)
50 - 75 fps low settings, low population servers
40 - 60 fps on medium population servers
25 - 35 fps low settings on crowded servers (130 - 150 players)

Changing the resolution or changing to very low to high makes no difference, except in crowded servers (5 fps less). It's very playable.

I assume this is where I should post this, if not please feel free to correct me.

Issue:  My computer is a decent machine otherwise, which I'll get into the specs, but ever since two bigger updates ago, the menu is causing my machine to overheat.  Now, I will note, I have had some heating issues before with other games, and was able to change the settings for that to be less of an issue.  However, right now, my GPU skyrockets in temperature...on the menus.  If I can make it into the game before I hard refresh, it evens out and I'm fine.  Player counts, maps, none of that seems to matter.  But for whatever reason the menu is causing me to hard crash.

Windows 10 x64
Ryzen 1300x
RX 560 2GB
8GB RAM

In a full server I get 30 fps, no matter the graphics preset. Also cpu's it's only 50% usage or lower.

Hi there. Since the last 2 updates i've been experiencing performance issues on full servers. I often get sub 20fps, where as before i was able to maintain a stable 20+ fps. This appears to happen on all maps regardless of gamemode and it's enough to render fully populated servers unplayable for me. I've got 342 hours on Holdfast and i've been playing for nearly a year and i've never experienced anything like this before.

My Specs:

Windows 10 64bit
Nvidia GeForce GTX650 GPU
AMD A8-5500 CPU
8GB DDR3 RAM

I understand that my specs are very dated however i was still able to play the game well enough before even if it was ugly. The decrease in performance seems very sudden around the update which reintroduced Conquest and i don't experience any other issues in other games. I would greatly appreciate any help with this issue, i'm very passionate about this game and it would greatly sadden me if i was unable to play it. Thanks for the help!

By the looks of it, all AMD processors seem to struggle on this game.

Edit: When I had my AMD FX8350 I couldn't run the game smoothly at all...
That's with a 1060 aswell that could run BF1 and GTA 5 etc...

Now I have an i7, I can run Holdfast solid 60 on Extreme
