Split the 'Crew & Regiment' forum by Nation
« on: June 28, 2017, 10:31:49 pm »
People aren't a big fan of change, they really aren't. As I suggest however, change is good, it's frightening for some but it's good. Many of these forum posters are from FSE where all the regiments are placed together disregarding nations. What I want to suggest today is the splitting of Nations for a sub-forum for each. What does this do?

It declutters the regiment & crew recruiting board.
It allows new players to see choose their nation. Do they wish to play as French or British?
It builds unit-cohesion as players get to know each other better.
It's different to the normal.

It's so much better to see all of us British Regiments together and same with the French.
I believe overall it gives a better vibe.

It doesn't have to be permanent, maybe lets change it for a month and see how it goes?

Sounds good. What is the maximum amount of sub forums though? Usually it is two or three per forum section. Also, what about those groups who are not identified by faction allegiance? The ahistorical and interests kind? Should they make threads in the first 'general' part of the sub forum, if there is one still, should the split occur? Currently there are stickied threads above the catch-all listing threads of groups, will those stickied threads be duplicated per faction board? Or will the stickied threads remain where they are and the faction specific group threads become their own child boards/forums? While allowing the other non-affiliated groups to be under the stickied threads?

Other should be an option to represent factions not in-game.

In my opinion it just adds unnecessary child boards that don't really need to be there. Accomplishes the same thing as what their parent board aims to do, not really that useful aside from clearly distinguishing what regiment is what nation and even just an "Other Nations" child board wouldn't accomplish much because I assume you're suggesting this for people who could get confused.

I'm suggesting this for people to easily be able to:
1. Decide which nation
2. Clearly see which nation's regiment they would like to join
3. Declutter the regiment board instead of all being chucked into one mix
4. Create more of a community within nations "us vs them" instead of "everyone vs everyone" like it is now

Wouldn't it be too confusing if you did this?

This has been trialed and works great a big board under the crews and regiments category:

"British Empire"
"French Empire"
"Other Empires"

I don't think it's especially needed, as for example, in the french forum, we got tons of Marines/Crew, and people can quickly have a look at it instead of running to another sub-forum. Of course, it makes things a bit mixed-up, but I still find it better to have both of them into one single part.

Would have only worked if they did it from the start, it would be a lot of work to move all the threads over at this point
