Title: Face editors.
Post by: Wigster600 on January 20, 2017, 11:16:23 pm
For the love of christ do not add a face editor system that allows the sliders to create something unworldly and horrific.

How would one prevent such a thing, while allowing any level of customization at all?

Even if limited to realistic scales, a mouth and eye size slider locked to opposite extremes ends up with a monster.

It's apart of the fun, I don't think someones face being wacky is that much of a problem.

No, it is not.

It's apart of the fun, I don't think someones face being wacky is that much of a problem.
It ruins the historical feeling of the conflict by adding something outrageously daft and rather piss-taking after a while. I mean sure, it probably would be amusing for five minutes, but then there's always a group that takes it too far and keeps using an impossible to conceive face.

Wigster from your post I have understood that you desire a game that is extremely realistic,a "napoleonic sim" of sorts. It is ofcourse completely understandable, but don't you think it's a bit extreme saying
For the love of christ do not add a face editor system

I personally believe its part of the fun,in the end though it is the developpers decision.

If you play NW for historical accuracy then faces are the least of your worries.

Right...everyone needs to calm down. Wigster could you be civil and not make this about one's town or place of origin? Your suggestion would surely be more respect if you didn't try to buly other people into agreeing with it.

The problem is you can't make a game 100% historically accurate as it won't work, it will get boring and repetitive. Just by having a little customisation it adds player interaction that a simulator game may not give. Like Nick said, at the end of the day it is up to the Devs.

If you re-read our posts, you'll find it's banter, not intended in a malicious way.

I'd consider it refreshing when out of no where you see the oddest looking face in the entire fricken world next to a bunch of normal ones. Also, it lets you remember specific people who make very very abstract faces!

That's the thing though, it isn't just out of no where and next to a bunch of normal faces. It catches on until you have groups of people with "le may-may faces xdddddDDDDDD!!!!11!11!1"

It needs to be a restricted face editor
Title: Re: Face editors.
Post by: Feldmarschall_Ben on January 24, 2017, 06:44:41 pm
Having an unique and individual face would be totally cool and in a game with such a huge multiplayer or actually even multiplayer being the very spotlight of it it's almost mandatory.

I was somehow dissapointed for example when I first played this mmofps planetside2 and there were just 2 or 3 different faces to choose from. The devs there also acknowledged this as being a problem because many people and that surely is a majority want to construct and individualize their own character. In PS2 the devs choose to make them wear all sorts of helmets and few different armors (microtransactions-wise) and that was a huge success. That's a thing a historical game could never do.

Something would be missing in this game if there was no "face-editor". And in case of seing horribly creature-like-characters that can be solved if regiments or crews act against this. In NW my cuirassier-regiment chose that no one can be a member when having a shaved face or being black. Not that either of this attributes would be described as creature-like, dont get me wrong, however restrictions can be made when there are groups preserving that.

In the end, whats wrong with some ugly bandits, not everyone can have the face of an angel :D

It's hard to have a balanced system between freedom & historical ... And we are m&b community so we don't know the term "restricted"

Honestly even if the face creator is a bit more plain and restricted I'd be happier if uniforms and equipment got more diversity and choice to make up for it instead.

I found the mount and blade face editor to be pretty good, although it could of used more face model skins.

I don't care what you do to the retard faces, but for the love of god, make females not fucking ugly.

It takes me like 15 minutes to get a good female char in warband, and even then it's barely a 7/10.

Definitely an important part of a multiplayer game but probably doesn't need as much depth as the one on M&B which had so much scope it made retarded faces easier to create than regular ones.

If high weird voices break your immersion playing these games, how do you use TeamSpeak then?

There was a small percentage of hidden woman, no doubt a few hundred of them served during the two decade conflict that was fought through most of Europe. It would be silly to think otherwise with the hundreds of thousands of men curious, bored or desperate women wouldn't secrelty get involved.

Elenore Prochasla (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eleonore_Prochaska) was one of the few that was discovered. Other well hidden women no doubt died with the men and were just tossed into the mass graves because a dead soldier looked like a dead soldier especially being exposed to the elements. Women also involved themselves fighting against the French in several of the famous Spanish city sieges and even in the French Revolution they experimented with raising a volunteer female regiment at one stage.
