Agreed, the community really needed an update like this and hopefully adding another faction as you have done will bring many of the inactive players back whilst the melee improvements are being made.

Keep it up! :)

The ruler of Prussia was king, not the kaiser...
The units in-game refer to the König, the "Kaiser" was just for the announcement and trailer because most people don't know what the Konig was.

Thank you! Looking forward to it.

For now, we're focusing on fixing some issues that players reported with the latest update release (Community server issues, a few spelling errors and other minor bugs). We'll then continue our work on the melee.

In that case, most people should get themselves some education.

I guess technically Prussia was still part of the HRE of which the Austrian King was the Kaiser who later dubbed himself Kaiser of Austria but the two were very much competitors and previously at war under Frederick. But yeah Prussia only ever had a King.

Prussia was never in the Holy Roman Empire, although Brandenburg was  ;)

The HRE was dissolved in 1806 anyway.

What exactly happened there as at one point to get around it and to have some sway as an elector he dubbed himself King in Prussia rather than of Prussia. Did Prussia step out of the HRE and/or abandon its participation as an elector prior to 1806?

The word 'kaiser' is derived from the name of Julius Caesar, who was never emperor. He was, however, Rome's dictator, which is basically a king, therefore 'kaiser' is acceptable. QED.

Very interesting reasoning.

Mind like a steel trap.

What exactly happened there as at one point to get around it and to have some sway as an elector he dubbed himself King in Prussia rather than of Prussia. Did Prussia step out of the HRE and/or abandon its participation as an elector prior to 1806?

They never gave up their status as elector, though it didn't mean much more than a rubber stamp on the Habsburg succession. The pretense of calling themselves "King in Prussia" instead of "of Prussia" wasn't just to placate the Austrians, but also the Polish (and the Dukes of Saxony who were frequently Kings of Poland). Western Prussia was known traditionally as "Royal Prussia" as it was ruled by the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth, and Eastern Prussia was "Ducal Prussia" under the secular rump-state left over from the dissolution of the Teutonic Order of Knights. When the Duchy was elevated into a Kingdom, you effectively had two kings in Prussia. In 1772, after the First Partition of Poland, the western Prussian territories were absorbed by the Hohenzollern state, so the King in Prussia now ruled all of "Prussia", royal and ducal, together and alone. The pretense was now redundant.

Nicely explained.  :D

The pretense was now redundant.
