Title: Will this game have bayonet attachments?
Post by: DΛRKWΛVΣ on January 20, 2017, 05:49:05 pm
Or does it work like in NW just press on a button and whoop in melee mode? :D

Usually soldiers would attach bayonets before initiating a charge or entering combat, but it would be infuriating if you had to do that every time one entered combat in-game. I would think that this is one scenario where gameplay trumps real life, so expect the same thing as NW.

Would it really be that much of an annoyance to fix your bayonet each time you spawn if you wanted it fixed at all times, though?

In North and South you need to attach your bayonet xdd and it's not that big of a deal if you do it like at spawn

I have mixed feelings on this, although I like the simplicity of having the bayonet always attached, having an attachable bayonet just adds a little extra.

I do hope its like in NW but attaching the bayonet with a polished animation is really immersive.

I'm curious as to what the downside would be (On the players' side, anyways. It'd definitely involve more work for the devs) to having fixable/removable bayonets. If you want it to be like NW, just fix it when you spawn, and away you go.

It would be nice to have little things like being able to attach bayonets. This game has a brilliant opportunity to fill in all the gaps that NW missed/made a poor job of.

Couldnt have said it better.

How about an option to spawn with a bayonet or without, if it really annoys you.
Then you can just manually attach or detach it when needed to

Just to expand on the bayonet idea. A bayonet, whether sword or pointed. Should be a spare item you can draw when not fixed onto your firearm.

Did soldiers actually use their bayonets as swords tho?

Give baker rifles attachable bayonets again :ˆ)

I think that this would work well if line infantry spawned with bayonets and French light voltigeurs and British riflemen without them.

I think their hangers were for that purpose

I also hope to be able to play without having it attached, maybe for more accuracy ?

They're long, strong, pointy things. I think they'll use them whatever way they wanted. They're tools. It would be nice to have the option to use them on their own though.

How about just a reload time increase?

Anything that is a bit different between having it fixed or not

Yeah Iron sights would be amazing. I think the screenshot showed it. From Steam Greenlight. I thought I saw it.

Might depends on which person you are playing

Most of the firearms don't have anything but a small notch close to the end of the barrel, there aren't any sights to them, however it would be nice to have a serverside option to force remove the crosshair for all players on the server. Looking down a barrel would be a nice change.

EDIT; Found it. Not exactly a weapon with a sight, but it's nicer than some arcadey crosshair.

Something like this for a musket ironsight?  One thing that I hated about NW how people could snipe with regular muskets.

Crosshairs are necessary due to the lack of depth-perception in games. No crosshair only makes sense if you're playing a character with one eye.

Jackson you'd know, are the devs aiming for an arcadey game like NW or aiming to have more realism? Personally i've prefer the latter far more.

I wasn't implying anything I didn't directly say. I'm not an active developer on the game and therefore totally incapable of answer questions about what their intentions are.

I would like bayonet attachments if you could decide if you want them or not in the server options for example if a groupfighing server was made then you could have the bayonets on from when you spawn but if you want a realistic linebattle then you could make the people have to equip them before going into melee
