If the icons weren't so darn small, you could maybe indicate the NCO ranks by having a plain shako with the X'd pompon for mladshiy unter-ofitser; a shako with a caisson wagon behind it for the kaptenarmus; a shako with an infantry banner for the podpraporshchik; a shako in front of a banner and sword crossing each other for the portupey-praporshchik; and then a shako with the head of a halberd for the fel'dfebel'.

More straight and lower than cuirassiers. Sappers were using their own shape. More oval and pointed than cavalry. The crest was much more cranked.
