Welcome to the 35e Régiment d'pénal!
About:We are a friendly, democratic and open-minded regiment within the Holdfast community.
Our formation has it's roots in our previous M&B: Napoleonic Wars regiment of the Red Guard
as well as years of experience in other units in various settings. We will fight both on land and on sea, primarily undertaking the role of light infantry,
skirmishers or seamen. We depend upon people's respect for one another and common sense, rather then
depending upon structures of favoritism, insults and quasi-fascist tendencies.
Our structure will therefore be considered a rather loose one, allowing everyone to try out
the leadership role and what other roles will be at our disposal.Requirements:-Respect the unit, it's members and it's structure
-Age of 18 or higher (Exceptions can be made)
-Maturity and patience
-Ability to make it to events
While we do not exercise a strict attendance policy, failure to respond to game invites or not
providing a viable excuse for not coming on multiple occasions will result in your termination from the group.
Background of the 35e Régiment d'pénal:The 35e Régiment d'pénal was raised in southern France from the former 1st Méditerranée Régiment in 1812, as a light infantry regiment.
After the regiments formation, it was sent to reinforce Napoleons ongoing invasion of Russia, and it quickly earned it's first battle honour
in the outskirts of Moscow, during the battle of Borodino.
During the fatal withdrawal out of Russia, the 35e were often caught up in skirmishes with partisans and other light enemy elements as well
as conducting delaying and other rearguard actions for the Grande Armée's retreat. The Russian winter and consistent harassment by
by enemy forces would however take it's toll upon the regiment and what few remained perished on the Montmarte heights outside of
Paris in 1814.
Due to it's penal nature, it was primarily composed of convicted criminals, prisoners of war, deserters and other societal undesirables at the time.
Penal regiments of various kinds were formed by most participants in the Napoleonic wars, specifically during the later years
of the conflict when the the lack of manpower became an issue. If you are interested in joining or have further questions, feel free to add me on Steam:
