Introduction
The Queen's York Rangers trace their direct origins to Robert Rogers and his Rangers in 1756 during the French and Indian Wars. The unit was quickly adopted by the British army as an independent ranger company, as the Queen's York Rangers, First American
Regiment.
They were active during the War of 1812 and during the Upper Canada Rebellion in 1837-38.
Rangers
It was trained as a rapidly deployed light infantry force tasked mainly with reconnaissance as well as conducting special operations against distant targets.
