Which one of these do you think is better for a regiment to communicate?

Teamspeak has a whisper function, Discord does not. Nuff said.

You can just DM people.

DM's are just text messages though, whereas whispers are private/selective voice chat which makes it another thing entirely. You won't be able to conveniently DM someone on the fly whilst in the middle of an event unlike with a whisper.

It's literally just two clicks to DM someone. One if you're already in a conversation with them. You really can't say that Teamspeak is better for typing.

Whisper is to talk to people in other channels by voice. When you have 2+ separate lines you can't have them in the same channel, so the leaders use whisper to communicate.

And we have a website for typing and what not.

doesn't discord has the possibility for sub-channels? maybe they could have 3 voice channels, 2 for 2 lines and 1 for leaders

Teamspeak works good for structured communities, where Discord meets the standards for a more circle of friends community,

Which is the best?

Discord obviously because its free :D

Discord has been blowing up in popularity lately and with good reason. It's a great service, and not just because it's free. I'd go for Discord between those two.

Teamspeak, discord can't compare for clan management. Teamspeak is better for customization, organization and functionality. Discord is better for a group of friends but is dwarfed by team speak in organized game play.

Discord is a good way to get a free service where you can game with a couple friends but with limited abilities, Teamspeak has many many advantages when it comes into function and is a great Large group/Community platform. It's a mix of TS and Skype imo.

The best system is to have mumble for listening, ventrilo for talking, teamspeak3 for text chat and discord for our afk system (go to discord to go afk). Skype for officer chat between sections.

and if that fails you can just spam voice commands in game. Now that's a pro play
