First of all welcome and thank you for taking a look at our regimental thread! We formed a regiment in order to become
friends and train ourselves to be a strong core of melee fighters. Anyone who wants to become a battle hardened veteran will get special melee
courses. The 21e is also a friendly regiment and open to anyone. We don't allow politics talk. Only if you can keep it at a certain limit that's
enjoyable for everyone. We won't allow racism of any kind. EVERYONE is welcome and should be individually respected. A rank structure is made
for historical accuracy. This does not mean Recruits are less valuable than NCO's for example. Everyone who is part of our community will be
respected and other opinions will be heard and taken seriously. We do have an age limit of 13+. If you want to have a look for yourself first, and
you are not sure you are wanting to join us, then you are always welcome to jump on our Teamspeak and play with our members. We welcome
everyone with open arms, even those who don't want to join our regiment but just hang out on TS with our people.

Our Goals in Holdfast

***
The 21e will mainly focus on participating in weekly-based linebattles and sieges. The Regiment will mainly focus on improving their shooting and melee to compete in future 1v1s and 2v2s against other regiments, training will also be set throughout the week to get our members to their peak performance in the game. On the other hand, we will be jumping onto public servers to have a laugh and to enjoy ourselves, other than that we will not only go as line infantry but also role-play as other units such as light infantry or artillery. We want to accomplish in Holdfast to become a fun mature regiment to keep the entertainment at its highest peak!

Conscrit (Conscript) Guidebook

***
The individuals of the regiment are constantly cheerful when a new member joins in. We will willingly welcome all those who show interest by joining the regiment. Once joined the regiment, Conscripts are expected to show great dedication and motivation towards the regiment as well as improving their melee and shooting in-game. If you are active and attend 2 bootcamps within the 2 weeks, it will award you a promotion to the rank of Soldat and from there, you will slowly but surely progress through the ranks will melee skills and discipline. If you, however, encounter a problem within the regiment or your not to sure about something, then do please contact one of the Commanding Officers or a Non-Commissioned Officer as they will always be available at your disposal and would really want to help.

21e marching in winter coats through the swamps

Historical Overview - 21ème Régiment d'Infanterie de Ligne

***

TThe 21ème Regiment d'Infanterie is one of the oldest regiments in the world. It was raised in Lorraine in 1598 by Henri de Vaubecourt at the time when Henri of Navarre became King Henry IV of France. The regiment was destined the 21ème Regiment d' Infanterie de Ligne in 1803. In 1804 it formed part of the Armée d' Angleterre when the concept of the Grande Armée was first created by Napoleon. In 1805 the regiment marched under  Marshal Louis Nicoholas Davout as part of the 3ème Corp d' Armee to fight the combined might of Austria and Russia at Austerlitz. In 1806 Davout's Corps found itself facing the main Prussian army under the Duke of Brunswick at Auerstadt, whilst Napoleon was defeating what he believed to be the main army at Jena. The 21ème defended the village of Hassenhausen in the centre of the French line. Corporal Boutloup of the Voltigeur company, along with six men, took a Prussian gun and caisson and turned it on the Prussians. These men, having killed the gun crew, manned the cannon for over half an hour until ammunition was exhausted. Losses were heavy but the three divisions of the 3ème Corp became famous through the Armée as "Les Trois Immortelles".The 21ème saw further action at Custrun, Pultusk and Eylau and later still at Eckmul and Wargram. It was at Custrin, a single company bluffed the fortress into surrendering and took 4,000 Prussian prisoners. In 1812 the regiment was once again with Davout as part of the crack 1er Corp. The 21ème now comprised 6 battalions (4 veteran battalions, the depot battalion and the new 6th battalion led by graduates from St. Cyr and volunteers from the Garde.) It fought at Smolensk, Valoutina Gora and Borodino in the bitter Russian campaign. The regiment then faced the winter retreat from Moscow. From a strength of over 4,200, only 92 remained in arms by the 1st of February 1813.

***

In 1814 the regiment was reformed from the depots in France and fought the British army for the very first time at Bergen op Zoom in the Netherlands. It was here that the Colour of the Foot Guards was taken (Now on display at the Invalides in Paris). Now following the Emperor's abdication the 21e Regiment de Ligne continued as a reluctant regiment of the monarchy. Napoleons return from exile in 1815 marked the start of a campaign that was to become known as the 100 Days. He re-instated himself as Emperor of France, banished the Bourbons and brought back the tricolour flag. As the storm clouds gathered over Europe his imperial army formed up below the eagles once again.

poleons return from exile in 1815 marked the start of a campaign that was to become known as the 100 Days.  As the storm clouds gathered over Europe his imperial army formed up below the eagles once again. The regiment missed both actions at Ligny and Quartre Bras to the confusion in command. They formed part of the French right wing on the field of Waterloo.  With shouts of "Vive L' Empereuer!" they descended into the valley under the fiery vault of French and English shells which arched over their heads. With drums beating the advance in massed formation up the slopes of Mont Saint Jean to meet Wellington's army.  Here they were surprised by the Highlanders and became involved in a fierce melee. This was only broken as the French heavy cavalry charge by Wellington's Union Brigade. The 21eme retired as best it could. The regiment was later involved in the capture of the farmhouse of La Haye Saint but never fully recovered from this onslaught. Following the arrival of the Prussians and defeat of the Old Guard the day was lost. On the 28th the Regiment arrived at Paris with an effective strength of 18 officers and 206 men.
The 21eme have continued active service over the years in Algeria, Italy, the Crimea, the Franco-Prussian War, the Great War and World War II.[/i]

Organisation of the Regiment
***

The Regiment will consist of Line Infantry for the time being. In Regimental linebattles, however, we will work with formations and try to re-enact historical line formations. These formations require high discipline and knowledge of the game and the commands. One example of this is a double firing column with line infantry and officers standing behind them. If we come to use various other units we'll be using light infantry as a flanking force with devastating firepower. We will try to bring historical 1800s fighting as realistic as possible to the battlefield in Holdfast. The Regiment will also use a wide variety of historical French military ranks. These ranks will be shown in-game, but they will be in the Teamspeak as well. Reaching higher ranks in the Enlisted section requires you to be skilful and very loyal.

Hierarchy explanation & attached duties

***
Here you can see which duties and tasks are attached to every rank. We want to show that EVERY member is important within the regiment and should be respected equally as the CO's and NCO's. Just because there is a rank displayed in front of your name doesn't mean you are just a puppet. Personal opinions are valued and will always be considered as feedback to improve our social group. Different duties and tasks are handed out so every member can have his contribution towards the regiment.

Good luck Duke, fgt. Hopefully better than whatever regiment we had back in like 2012 when we were like 13.

Edit: Your Sjt-Maj icon looks rather ravaged, use that one if you want.
